Ahmed Hamed – Multimedia journalist

ahmed-hamed-multimedia-journalistAhmed has worked as a multimedia journalist since 2012 with a focus on reports about Egyptian social and current affairs for online media. He has won international awards in the field of photography from UNESCO and UNAOC.
He studied mass media and journalism at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.

Lindsay Beck – Senior Programme Manager, Open Technology Fund (OTF)

She previously worked for the National Democratic Institute (NDI), focusing on how NDI and its partners can safeguard their data and communications in their projects to ensure government accountability as well as monitor elections and other political processes.

In addition, Lindsay also worked for Freedom House’s Internet Freedom program, where she worked with human rights activists on efforts to counteract censorship and surveillance as well as strengthen Internet governance and policy. Lindsay received her Master’s degree, focusing on Technology in International Affairs, from the George Washington University.

Richard Ngamita – Senior Technical Lead at Medic

Prior to that, he worked for Google in Dublin, Ireland as a data engineer on the spam team, as well as at Google in Nairobi, Kenya, where he helped launch the first Google offices in Africa.
Richard holds a degree in Computer science from Makerere University and has lived and worked in Uganda, Nigeria and Ghana.

Henry Muguzi – founder of Alliance for Campaign Finance Monitoring (ACFIM)

He specialises in
governance; accountability; project design, evaluation and reviews.  His 18 year career has seen him work with the New Vision Printing and Publishing Corporation and WBS Television following which he turned to civil society activism.

He holds an MA in Public Administration and Management, a BA degree in Political Science and Public Administration, and a myriad of post graduate certificates in varied disciplines.

Lydia Namubiru- Digital/Data Journalist

Lydia is a digital/data journalist who currently writes for Quartz, an international business news site, is the programme officer for data journalism & research at the African Centre for Media Excellence and the data curator for www.data.ug, the home of Uganda’s open data. She also writes the eclectic blog: Of Course I Have Issues. She holds a masters degree in data journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism
