Yohannes Eneyew Ayalew

Yohannes Ayalew is a Media Law Lecturer at School of Law Samara University Ethiopia where he has also served as Head of the Law School. He holds Master of Laws (LL.M) International Human Rights Law at Faculty of Law, University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and LL.M Public International Law at Addis Ababa University and LLB in Law at Wollo University with distinctions. Recently, he holds a visiting professor position at school of law, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia where he taught LL.M students. He is also a digital rights consultant in Africa, and a blogger at AbyssiniaLaw.com. His teaching, research and publication focuses on, freedom of expression, digital rights, internet shutdowns, media clampdowns, health and human rights. His recent article entitled ‘The Internet shutdown muzzle(s) freedom of expression in Ethiopia: competing narratives’ is published at the Journal of ‘Information and communications Technology Law’ Vol 28:2(2019)
